Population Explosion

India, the world’s largest democracy is also one of the oldest nations of the world existing from the

Old Testament time making a mention of it in Esther 1:1.

God loves India so He created 1.2 billion souls! 80% of the population are Hindus, 14% are

Moslems, 4% are Christians and 2% belong to other religions. Everyday 45,000 babies are born and

25,000 people die to go to Christless Eternity. As Jesus was moved with compassion, are we moving

with compassion for the lost souls who are going to Christless Eternity? Matthew 9:26.

The Challenge of Languages

India is believed to have 1, 652 languages and dialects out of which 22 of them are considered as the official languages. It is estimated 160 languages have the written Word of God. The whole Bible is translated into 39 languages, the New Testament into 31 languages, Gospels into 90 languages.

India urgently requires men and women who can give their talents to translate the Scriptures. Meanwhile there is a great urgency to produce evangelical literature and reach the 65% of the literates of this vast nation.

Other Challenges

India is closed to the foreign missionaries which makes it mandatory for the native missionaries to take their place.

The native missionaries are cheaper, can adjust to any kind of living conditions, food, climate etc. and can effectively communicate the Gospel in the local dialect. More than 15,000 native missionaries exist in India and this should be increased to many folds to meet the great challenge of the unfinished task.
